Fish credits her hometown for bringing her to the blues.
“Growing up in Kansas City it’s a seriously strong blues and jazz town. There’s so many open mics and jams and stuff, so if you’re a young guitar player like I was you can go to a jam every other night.”
“There’s just something so powerful about taking a guitar solo,” says Samantha Fish. “You can be emotive with it. You come up with melodic phrases. There’s so much versatility with the guitar.”
For Samantha Fish, her journey on the guitar started with the blues. And while Fish is rooted in the blues she’s not afraid to push the boundaries of the genre.
“I try to do something different with every album,” says Fish. “I try to evolve. I really don’t want to come out with the same album or twice in a row. I like the idea of growing and changing album to album.”
“You’ve got to find a way to stand out and be true to your art. If you have something to say find a way to say it like nobody else,” says Fish.
Enjoy Samantha Fish music!
