ABOUT TIME!!!
Hello there Ladies and Gentlemen -
It’s been so long since I’ve written, people are calling to make sure we haven’t accidentally deleted them from our email list. After our NINE, 2009 shows - Coco Montoya, Smokin’ Joe Kubek, Debbie Davies, Candye Kane, The Refugees, Saffire - The Uppity Blueswomen, 5th annual B-Town Blues Fest, David Mallett and Shana Morrison - we needed to catch up. OK, on to the new year!
The TWELTH SEASON OF THE NO STINKIN’ SERVICE CHARGE BLUES SERIES…..(Really?! 12 seasons?!!)…starts Friday night, January 8, 2010. Be on hand to welcome and enjoy Tommy Castro and his band at the DoubleTree Hotel Ballroom for the SEVENTY-FIRST show of the series. Doors are at 6:30. Local musician, Eddie Munoz and band will open. Tommy Castro and his 7-piece band, including his horn section, go on at 8. Reserved tickets are $20 at the back row of tables and $25 for the rest. Come by the store, World Records, 1824 ‘G’ Street, or give us a call, 661-831-3100. Tickets to see this great artist, in a small, classy, convenient venue, along with an audience of happy, fun-loving folks, make a great gift. When you think, ‘I don’t want to give stuff to people that have plenty of stuff,’ give something that says, ‘Even after the holidays are over, you have a GREAT time to look forward to.’
Y’all know the reigning ‘B.B. King Entertainer of the Year’ is the wonderful Janiva Magness, who just performed for us at the B-Town Blues Fest. Last year’s recipient of this most prestigious award wasTommy Castro. We’ll have the dance floor set up on either side of the stage because he intends to make you move. And if you want to get your dance moves synchronized to his songs and be able to lip synch while you grind, pick up his latest release, Hard Believer. It comes with the World Records Seal of Approval and we have it on sale for $5 off when you get your tickets.
The first show of the year always has great energy. Get your tickets and join the celebration!
Upcoming shows - Roy and Ray (As in Roy Rogers and Ray Manzarek - yeah, THAT Ray Manzarek) Friday night, February 26 at the DoubleTree Hotel Ballroom. Rory Block, Sunday night, April 25 at the Spotlight Theater. 6th annual B-Town Blues Fest, Saturday, September 18 at CSUB Amphitheater.
The blues series could use some more volunteers to help at the shows. Send me an email or call the store if that might be you.
The Kern River Blues Society is up and running. Dues are $10 and open jam sessions happen at Trout’s the second and third Saturdays of the month from 2 pm to 8 pm.
Thank you to everyone that has kept our store and shows going. You make this place sound better! Best to you and yours for the New Year!

Can’t wait. Tickets in hand.
Questions for ya’, is there any way to post the seating chart with the posting for the concerts?
Just wonderin’

Howdy Super Dave…
Yes…the seating chart is located on the BLUES SERIES/CONCERTS page with all the concert info. Unfortunately, it does not reflect what has been sold, so one must call to order tix and then we can let them know what is still available.

I’m so excited to see the Roy & Ray show this coming Friday…and since we’re in the same area code, hope there are other shows I’ll get to come to also!
Thanks for keeping the music flowing…and glad to find out about you!
Gratefully,
