Part 72 of the No Stinkin’ Service Charge Blues Series is on sale now. Ray Manzarek and Roy Rogers, Friday, February 26, DoubleTree Hotel Ballroom. Doors at 6:30. Local artist Joel Jacob will open. Ray and Roy go on around 8. The legendary Doors keyboardist and
songwriter joins Grammy award-winning slide guitar wizard Roy Rogers for a once-in-a-lifetime evening that no music fan should miss. We’ve been trying to get this show for 8 years and most likely will never have the opportunity again. Ray and Roy are only playing four cities in 2010 - Seattle, Santa Barbara, San Diego and…
Bakersfield. Reserved tickets are $30 and $25. To look at the flyer and seating chart just copy this into your web browser -
This show is going to be VERY different from anything we have ever done - just Ray and Roy, piano and guitar. They will do Doors songs, blues and even some classical pieces. Ray Manzarek will do a question and answer section toward the end of the evening where folks can come up to an audience microphone and pose their question to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member.
If you look at the seating chart, note that the stage will be on the wall directly opposite the entry doors. The seating layout will be short and wide so more people can be closer to the stage and make for a more intimate experience. Even without any advertising, rows one through seven are already sold, and only tables C3 and C8 are open. Word has gotten around. Ray Manzarek is coming town. This is going to be way cool!
DoubleTree Special - The hotel has agreed to try a special offer for folks coming to this show. You get a room and breakfast for two for $79. Make your reservation through the front desk. 661-323-7111 Tell them you are going to the show and that the special offer was approved by Will Stine. He can be reached directly at 661-323-2215. will.stine@hilton.com
Here’s a fun piece I tripped over. Daryl Hall of Hall and Oates has an ongoing internet series called ‘Daryl’s House.’ This 18th segment was recorded last April and features Robbie Krieger and Ray Manzarek getting together will Daryl Hall and a group of musicians in a living room. I really enjoyed watching it. Copy this into your browser -
Mark your calendar for our upcoming shows: Michael Burks, Friday, March 26, Rory Block, Sunday, April 25, 6th annual B-Town Blues Fest, Saturday, September 18. We just put the Table Drive thermometer on the wall at World Records. It’s time to reserve your spot.
Thank you for making our store and its shows possible. No service charges, no sponsors. Just artists and fans.
Best regards,
