Just two weeks until the 6th annual B-Town Blues Fest, 5 pm, September 18 at CSUB Amphitheater to benefit the Bone Marrow Registry at Houchin Blood Bank - a GREAT show that supports a very important cause.  Here are ways to improve its success:

1.  TELL YOUR PEOPLE TO GO - They will thank you if you get them
to. Anyone who likes music, at all, can have a terrific time at the Blues Fest.  It’s a combination of wonderfully entertaining artists, great food and drink, a relaxing setting with great acoustics.  But convincing Bakersfield people to go see artists that are unknown to them is not easy.  Try heaping the following on your peeps:

A) Those that know anything about reigning Entertainer of the Year -Tommy Castro, multi-Grammy winner - Roy Rogers, or Best New Artistnominee - Joanne Shaw Taylor, will find a way to be at the Blues Fest.  Mark my word - By the time Joanne is into her second song, most folks at the Blues Fest will be muttering OMG!  Here are links to each of the artists:
*All Tommy, Roy and Joanne cds are $2 off through September 18.  Listen and you’ll know why we chose them to play for you.

B) Jake’s Tex-Mex, Coconout Joe’s and Frugatti’s are doing the mmm-mmm Blues Fest dinner.  Imbibe is ably handling wine duties.  La Rosa Fruit Bars, Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, several cold beer options, margaritas, Italian Ice and soft drink choices round out the offerings.

C) With the help of lots of friends and lots of experience, World Records’ shows at CSUB are a good time.  It will sound and look great, and will be well organized so everyone can gear down and tune in.

D) It costs $95 for a person to join the bone marrow registry.  All food and drink proceeds from the B-Town Blues Fests go to a fund at Houchin to cover the cost of Bakersfield folks’ registration.

E) As evenings out go, the blues fest is very reasonable.  Kids are free.  Lawn seating is $30, $10 off for seniors, military and college students, an additional $10 off for people who give a pint at Houchin and get a blues fest coupon.  Reserved seating is $40.  Dinner tickets are $10.

2.  PLACE AN AD IN THE BLUES FEST PROGRAM - Starting at $25 for a business card ad, it’s a nice way to show your support.   Here is the form with the ad rates -

3.  DISPLAY A BLUES FEST YARD SIGN FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS -
Do you have a place for a yard sign that can be seen by at least 40 cars per day?  The signs are plastic so sprinklers won’t hurt them and they have little wire legs that push into the ground without a fuss.  If you have a spot for one please reply with  YS.
